Beginner’s Yoga - Where to Start
You’re never too old, too stiff, too heavy or too weak to begin Yoga; everyone has to start somewhere. It’s perfectly natural to want to begin on your own, or to join fellow beginners.
Yoga can be a transformative practice, offering benefits that extend far beyond physical fitness. It can help manage stress, improve flexibility, increase strength, reduce menopausal symptoms and support overall wellbeing. However, finding the right approach to begin your practice can be challenging, especially if you’re dealing with specific concerns or conditions.

New Class for Beginner’s and Beyond at Station Street Studio, Lewes, East Sussex starting Wednesday 9th September 9.30 - 10.45 See below for more…
“Finding Anneliese and Birchwood Yoga has been such a positive experience for me. Since I was new to yoga Anneliese suggested private lessons which gave me a good understanding of her teaching style and she immediately put me at ease. Not only have I become stronger in both mind and body, I have adopted mindfulness and being in the present moment into my business.”
Beginner’s & Beyond Slow Mindful Yoga Class in Lewes
You are never too old, too stiff, too overweight or too anything to begin Yoga. The only prerequisites for a group class are that you can get up and down from the ground and that you do not have any condition that prevents you from practicing. Props can be recruited to enable more comfort in certain positions and poses can be modified but it’s always best to have a conversation with Anneliese before signing up to ensure she can manage your condition.
It’s always good to learn something new or repeat something ‘old.’ Relearning with a Beginner's Mind is always a positive experience. You do not therefore, have to be a complete beginner to join this class which will adapt and grow with the students.
The first 8 weeks of the class will focus on basic poses and breathing techniques encouraging you to improve.
The following 8 weeks delve into the 7 Attitudinal Foundations of Mindfulness and teach you how to meditate, empowering you to develop self awareness.
By singing up for my newsletter, you’ll also receive a free copy of the accompanying How to Meditate manual.
Through the weeks you will encounter ample repetition, ensuring you feel confident enough to participate in a regular class by the end, be that continuing with the Lewes class or joining a class in Barcombe.
There will be a maximum 10 students in this class to allow Anneliese to assist you in your development.
